timescales
Wedding cakes are often ordered a year in advance so remember to
book early!
Ideally you will need to order a minimum of 12-16 weeks prior
to your wedding date, particularly for the busy summer months
to ensure that Cakes 4 Fun can schedule adequate time to
create your cake. This allows us to book you into our baking schedule
and to design and create all the exquisite sugar flowers and decorations
that may be required . Contact us to discuss the possibility of
a shorter timescale if required.

budget
The portions, shape, look and style of cake will all be influenced
by the budget that you have set yourself. Carolyn can work from
your budget to help you look at all the options and come up with
the ideal creation to suit your requirements.

payment
A one third deposit is required at the time of booking and final
payment is required one week prior to the wedding day.

sizes
Once you have decided on the number of guests at your reception,
Carolyn can guide you as to the size of the cake you will require
to feed this number. You will need to decide if 'coffee' slices
or 'desert' slices will be served as this will affect the size of
the cake. Some brides choose to have additional 'side cakes' which
are used to feed their guests, enabling them to keep a layer for
a future christening!

the taste
Fewer cakes are now created from traditional fruit cake, so let
your taste buds go wild! Carrot, banana, lemon, chocolate, almond
and vanilla are just a few of the mouth watering flavours to choose
from. Fillings can be created to contrast or compliment the taste
and texture of your cake, or why not have different flavoured layers?

the shape
Classic or contemporary - the shape will need to fit in with the
style and theme of the day and you will need to bear in mind that
the portions cut from unusual shapes will differ from a more classic
shape.

the 'look'
You may consider running with a chosen colour, motif or theme to
individualise your wedding and this can be incorporated into the
cake design. Swatches or fabric, examples of fresh flowers or a
chosen shape such as a heart theme can all be faithfully matched
within your cake.

presentation
In the excitement of choosing the cake - don't forget the cake table!
You will need to instruct your reception organiser to set aside
a table and will need to arrange the dressing - a swath of tulle
or scattered fresh or sugar rose petals will really show off your
cake and enhance the photo opportunity! Why not create a smaller
decoration of sugar flowers to attach to your cake knife to match
those on the main cake!
