Cake Decorating Courses



Welcome to our autumn schedule of classes in which I hope you will find something new and fun to try!

We lots of feedback from students attending our spring and summer courses, many of whom have asked for more ‘cup cake’ and individual cake’ classes, further sugar flowers and a selection of fun Christmas cake classes.


We are delighted that some of the Christmas classes will be with guest tutor, Debbie Brown – one of the UK’s most loved novelty cake creators, who will teach you how to turn your Christmas cake into a fun novelty baking scene complete with Christmas Turkey! Although Debbie’s cakes look fantastic, you don’t need to be an expert to join the class. So if you are looking for something extra special for Christmas, why not book your place now?

We have also increased the number of ‘chocolate day’ classes with guest tutor Erica Galvin. Erica will take you through the differences between working with milk, white and dark chocolate paste. You will learn how to cover a cake, make chocolate roses and fans, and explore a range of other cake decorating equipment that can be used with the chocolate paste, such as moulds, and beadmakers. We finish the class with a short transfer sheet demonstration.

Our classes will now include within the listed price, where applicable, a cake, butter cream and jam, icing, chocolate paste and use of basic tools such as non stick boards, rolling pins, turn tables etc. The course equipment lists issued for each class will detail the tools, boards, cutters etc you will need to bring with you on the day.

Our classes in cake decoration and sugarcraft techniques are designed to appeal to all levels from a complete beginner who has never made a cake in their life to those already at an advanced stage and looking for specialist help in developing their skills.

In addition to our half day and full day courses, we also offer private tuition, either one to one, or for a group, on a wide range of cake making topics. Please contact us to discuss.

Come and meet the fantastic Debbie Brown here at Cakes 4 Fun on Saturday the 29th of November.
Debbie will be at our shop between 11am and 2pm and will be demonstrating examples from her new book Dream Wedding Cakes and also on hand to sign copies of all her books.
Her newest book will make an ideal Christmas gift for all keen sugarcrafters! 
You will be able to enjoy a tea or coffee and taste some cake whilst having a chat with Debbie who will be happy to answer all your questions whilst she is demonstrating.

Cakes 4 Fun will also be on hand to demonstrate a range of festive fun ideas for your Christmas cakes so if you are looking for lots of ideas – make a date in your diary to pop in on the 29th between 11am and 2pm!

The above schedule has a mix of modeling classes, sugar flower work, cup cakes and individual cake decoration, chocolate work and basic cake decoration techniques to achieve a professional finish - if you would like to learn something currently not listed - please contact us to let us know so we can include a class in our next term which will run January to April 2009.

Where applicable, course price includes cake, icings and fillings. Non-stick rolling boards and large rolling pins will be provided. Students will need to purchase or bring their own equipment (i.e. cake boards, cake boxes, tools etc). A full equipment list will be provided for each course and all items will be available to purchase from the Cakes4Fun shop.
